Airlines tend to have a cut-off date in December, after which they whack up their fares for peak-season travelling at Christmas. This means you could travel, for example, on the 9th December and stay for 3 weeks and have yourself an Australian Christmas for around £800 for a flight... as opposed to around £1200!

Probably my best experience ever in Australia was a hot-air balloon ride at dawn over the outback!

I thought it would be useful to look up when the main Australian school holidays are, as these can have a big impact on booking a trip (usually in terms of accommodation being booked up, and resorts and roads being more busy).

We have got into the habit of always catching a taxi from the airport where ever we land now in an Australia city (unless we have a hire car), as is always the easiest option, I think, that will take you (and not all the other people on the transfer bus first!) direct to your accommodation — which after a long, long flight is really all you can think about...

Usually meaning...when are the cheapest flights to Australia? But "when is the best time to visit?" is NOT the same as "when is the cheapest time to fly or visit?"...
