Beautiful 'wish you were here' photos of Byron Bay, Australia

While I like to think I take a good snap myself, I thought you might enjoy some lovely photos of Byron Bay that Conde Nast Traveller have recently published on their web site.

One of our pics — the beautiful Tallows Beach (from the lighthouse), where I had my first surfing lessons... and I stood up!

Byron is one of my favourite places in Australia, as it has great (and I mean really great) beaches, a laid-back appeal, some beautiful surrounding hinterland and, of course (this is me, afterall!), it has some really good places to eat.

I like Fish Heads right on the sea front for a delicious dinner, and the Balcony is fun, with really good food too.

And I love the cinema at the arts centre — you can sit on the floor (cushions provided), or on the reclining cow-print benches! There is a nice retreat there too which I haven't stayed in but I read good things about.

View a map of Julian's Apartments in Byron Bay...
We like Julian's Apartments on Lighthouse Road to make ourselves at home in Byron. They're right opposite Clark's Beach, and a nice beachside stroll into town.

And if you don't know how already — when you are in Byron, you must learn to surf! This is where I learned (stood up in my first lesson too!). The great guys at Black Dog Surfing showed us how.

And if you've saved a few pennies, then maybe you want to check into Rae's — apparently Elle McPherson does...
